In Occitan, “la tano di Grich” means “the crickets' burrow”, and the inn takes its name from a curious folk legend, which Corrado and his family - the managers of the inn – tell with relish. The inn is located in the Upper Maira Valley, the most pristine of all the valleys in the province of Cuneo, rich in beautiful landscapes and unspoilt nature.
The Maira Valley is one of the seven valleys of Piedmont of Occitanian culture, preserving in its villages and churches beautiful examples of its past splendour.

Once, this small village was a separate municipality, with almost 2000 inhabitants up to the beginning of last century. The former importance of the village can be seen in its beautiful church and impressive town hall building (built in 1849), decorated with frescoes dominated by imposing representations of Italy and King Victor Emmanuel II. Today, S. Michele di Prazzo no longer boasts its former population. The municipality has been combined with that of Prazzo, below it, and the town hall, after a complete and painstaking renovation, has become the "Tano di Grich" (Crickets’ burrow). Italy and the King no longer watch over the town's inhabitants, but look down affably on visitors to the "Tano di Grich" as they rest, admiring the splendid valley.

REFUGE
For lovers of complete tranquility, there is also the option of staying at an altitude of 2000 metres, in the "Baita di Grich" (Crickets’ Refuge) located at Grange Chiotti at the foot of Mount Chersogno (3100 m.). This small refuge provides access to the main peaks: Chersogno, Marchisa and Pelvo d'Elva. More information on reaching the summits will be provided at the time by the girls at Tano di Grich.
ROOMS
A few metres from the restaurant, in a renovated old house, are the bedrooms and a large room suitable for use as a hiking lodge by groups or those walking the "Percorsi Occitani".
